Inaugural meeting


Great IT women! Please be informed that the inaugural meeting of NIWIIT Abuja chapter has been slated for last week in January. Date and venue will be communicated ASAP.
For state chapters, the executive officers that would oversee all activities are:

Public relations officer

Financial secretary

Treasurer

Welfare officer

Special duties officer

If you are interested in vying for any of the positions, kindly send your biography, picture and one-paragraph document on why you think you are the best candidate for the position to niwiitabuja@gmail.com. This will be posted on our blog at www.niwiitabuja.blogspot.com.
Submission  of entries should be on or before 12pm, Friday January 18, 2013.

Aims and Objectives

  1. Foster unity among Nigerian women in the IT industry through networking
  2. To maintain and defend the integrity and right of women in the IT industry
  3. To promote professionalism, capacity building and good relationship among members through mentoring
  4. To maintain the highest standard of ethics, conduct, virtue, etiquette and discipline among women in the IT industry
  5. To engage in any activity and ventures which will promote NIWIIT as well as the welfare of members
  6. To create a platform by which women in IT can collaborate with other women in other professions in Nigeria and elsewhere
  7. To develop and train members of the NIWIIT through workshops and capacity building programs
  8. To create awareness programs for IT related services and products among women in the rural and sub-urban areas in Nigeria, special target groups and students in secondary schools and tertiary institutions
  9. To encourage more female participation in the IT profession

Introduction

Whereas, we women in the Nigerian Computing and Information Technology profession and industry, having established a consensus on the way forward for women in the profession and industry in Nigeria hereby agree to the establishment of the Nigerian Women in Information Technology (NIWIIT) as an Interest Group within the Nigeria Computer Society and as stipulated in the constitution of the Nigeria Computer Society, hereby also agree to work together in accordance with the constitution of the Nigeria Computer Society and this bye-law to provide and support purposeful leadership that will guarantee the overall welfare of women in the profession and industry hereto from.
